Roads - ‘Pot-hole captial of the world’

For more than a year the B2116, between the West Sussex County Boundary in Keymer and Stonepound Traffic lights, Hassocks, has had a seriously dangerous pot-hole problem. Occassionally pathetic and futile attempts at repair have immediately failed but the very worst ones that have existed since pre-winter snow (so no excuse) without repair, have continued and degraded even further. Just how many serious injuries or deaths need to occur before action is taken?

Housing - Councillors should reject this advice

Mid Sussex District Council’s planning committee will consider Wates’ application for 230 houses in Lindfield on 21 May. Despite receiving well over 1,000 objections, district planners have chosen to recommend that councillors accept this proposal. Wates’ scheme would be grossly disproportionate to the scale of our village and the capacity of its overstretched infrastructure. Combined with the two large developments that Lindfield is already being compelled to accept, it would cause our population to balloon by 20 per cent. It would put another 600 cars onto our roads. We hope that we can now rely on our councillors to reject the planners’ advice and protect our community. Ample grounds for refusal are

Bit late for request on industrialising Balcombe Parish Council have requested Cuadrilla not to turn the village into an industrialised site. Unfortunately it is a bit late for that, as Cuadrilla plan to start drilling here in June.

Over recent weeks I have seen an article and a letter in the mid sussex concerning the comedy act that is Chailey Common management committee, East Sussex County Council and Natural England entitled ‘Grazing’ where animals are left to roam over acres of land that has large concealed holes, poisonous plants and people with uncontrolled dogs, the performance was a flop the first time yet here we are again awaiting more of the same.
